heard of Wayne Toups? His website describes his music as a "spicy blend of rock, folk, r&b and Cajun styles". The first time I heard of him was back in 1995 from a guy I dated in college. He (the guy) lived in Lake Charles, LA and his parents lived in Nederland, TX - both places that Wayne played. One weekend I took a trip to Nederland and my friends parents were having a party/get together at this bar and Wayne happened to be playing that night. My friend ran into him in the bathroom of all places and got him to sign 2 One Dollar bills for us. I still have my 1 dollar bill to this day, and remember having so much fun that night.
Moving on...as it neared May 5, 2001, I was unsure as to what song Josh and I would dance to at our wedding, so I just picked something. The day before the wedding Josh and I were in the truck and he popped in this cd he made for his roadtrip to Tyler. When the cd hit track #3 I heard Wayne Toups singing, "That's What I Love About My Baby" and I almost cried. We ended up using that song as "Our Song" for the wedding. Our DJ loved it and decided to add it to his collection, and everyone was crying as we were dancing.
So, if you like to branch out with your music - branch out to the Zydecajun scene and check out Mr. Wayne Toups. I think you'll enjoy it. He always makes my feet start dancin'!!
