Josh and I went to Shreveport Friday to see George Strait. We had great seats and enjoyed the concert very much. We came back yesterday, dad in tow, so they could get started putting down the wood floors. They got quite a bit accomplished - pulled up the carpet, the mat, and the boards (you know the ones that are nailed around the edges of the rooms), and I swept the master bedroom. However, sweeping that room quickly made me realize that I wasn't going to be able to help much because my back didn't take long to start hurting. That being said, yes....Josh got himself a belated birthday present for my birthday...a shop vac. I guess you could say that could be my present since I'll be in charge of cleaning the floors so they can lay them. Actually, at this point, I'm over not getting a gift. I'm just so happy to have a house, and to be getting such a beautiful floor put down. We also picked up the baby bed while we were at his parents house. I am really excited for them to get the floor down in the nursery and get the bed up. That'll probably be the first room I unpack next weekend.
Its funny that the purchase of our home went so smoothly, but now that we're trying to get moved in, the standard things aren't so smooth. For example, our phone was supposed to be turned on the day we closed. The weekend following that day, my family came up to paint and we plugged in a phone for them to have. Turns out, the previous home owners number was still turned on. They said they'd call on Monday to check on it since they had planned to have theirs turned off the day we had planned to have ours turned on. That was a week ago. They got theirs turned off, but now we have no dial tone and when I called yesterday the lady told me I should check it with a regular phone instead of a cordless. Of course, by the time I got back with a regular phone, Veriz0n was closed for the day. The other thing that should've been pretty smooth was our cable service. The service guy came out last night a little before 8pm, and 5 minutes later he was leaving. According to Josh, we were supposed to have a tv there. Uhhh..hello! Why did the lady at the cable company tell Josh we didn't need to have a tv there when he told her we wouldn't have one there!? At least our water, electricity and gas hasn't been shut off. *knock on wood*
